I saw it and here is my reveiw of it, no worries for those who actually read my post's, I'm not going to spoil it. Here we go!
I have to say, Ghibli has done it again. The artwork is breath taking, being done in almost complete water color makes it dreamy and in a story book. Also, I give the movie great props for not useing any CG in it, it was all completely hand drawn and at this day and age, its a rarity and a treat for those who prefer the old way of animation. On the same note, the story is like a modren fairytale which is great for kids and for people who like fantasy. Its a bit slow at some parts but it is easyly forgivable. The voice acting in the dub was good, the voice's fitted the charaters and they managed to not overact in doing so. Tina fey did a excellent job as Lisa and Noah Cyrus as Ponyo was adorible, some people find her annoying but she is a 5 year old and thats what they sound like. Frankie Jonas also did a very good job in the role as Sosuke, Matt damon is on the fence with me, I'm planing to see it again with a friend so I think I will get a solid opintion on him. Don't ask me why but his performance to me was kinda bland. One thing is about the credit song at the end, I don't mind that they dubbed the song in english with Noah and Frankie but did they really have to remix the song? I didn't see the original, so I wouldn't know if their is also a remix at the end too but in all seriousness, it was uncessasry and it sounded so bad that my friend who was with me during the showing went into 'twichy' mode which depending on the situation can be a good or bad thing. Another friend of mine, who works in the theater I saw it in and ran into her, asked me about the movie as she was almost scared off because of the awful remix during the credits. On a side note, I really liked how people were criedited at the end of the film, it was cute with the little illistations next to animaters names and everyone else who worked on it.
I have to say, its cute and great overall, if you have kids or if you are one on the inside, I highy suggest you go and see this movie.
